I do not consider [Armenia's ex-foreign minister] Vartan Oskanian to be the political leader who can be relied on during the presidential elections, Republican representative Lernik Alexanyan said on Friday answering the question whether the authorities are trying to get rid of a serious presidential contender [in the person of Vartan Oskanian] by initiating a criminal case against him.
Mr Alexanyan believes that the charges against Oskanian cannot be trumped up.
"I do not think that the Office of Prosecutor General is as primitive as to prosecute a statesman like Oskanian without grounds," said the Republican lawmaker.
In conclusion, Lernik Alexanyan added that he had shared a crust of bread with Oskanian in the presidential plane several years ago and the then Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian did not leave on him the impression of a criminal.
