Member of Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), former governor of Vayots Dzor marz (province) Sergey Bagratyan denies that he and his son, 17-year-old Shant, were involved in the scuffle that broke out during the local government election in the Artabyunk community, Yeghegnadzor.
According to press reports, he tried to take most of the ballot papers, and when a policeman made an attempt to prevent him from doing it, Bagatyan swore at the policeman and hit him with his head.
«There was some tension, but no incident took place, no one hit anyone, and there were no policemen. Our candidate won in the regional center, which caused tension. Some circlers did not like it and made an attempt to reduce the significance of our victory by spreading misinformation,» Sergey Bagratyan told A1+, noting that the press reports do not correspond to reality.
In his words, no criminal case was opened against him. «Such a stir was to the advantage of those who want to come to power in marzes. I think that they failed to do it, even though they had success in the mass media for a short time».
Sergey Bagratyan refrained from mentioning any names, saying that in case of obtaining facts, he will provide them to the media.
By the way, the candidates of BHK have won in the city of Yeghegnadzor, as well as in the following communities: Agarakadzor, Lerbashen, Karmrashen, Karaglukh, and Aghnjadzor.
