"For shame! It is an important facility, which is the center of public attention. 700 million AMD was allocated from the state budget, the work has not been completed so far, and it turns out that the state will have to allocate additional funds," Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said at the government session today. The matter concerned repairs of the National Library's building.
The major repairs began in 2008 and ended in December 2011. About 690 million AMD has been spent.
It is noteworthy that it was planned to improve the building's seismic resistance, but the work has not been done.
Minister of Urbane Development Samvel Tadevosyan said at the session that the main work was done in the wrong order, with preference being given to the interior decoration.
Other shortcomings during the repair work are related to the building's heating and air-conditioning systems: the money allocated for air-conditioning has been spent on other works, while the heating system has not been put into operation up to now.
«Most of the work carried out in 2008-2011 shall be done again. The reinforcement of the building is also necessary, » the minister said.
The minister's explanations made Tigran Sargsyan even more enraged. «If such audacious and shameful things were done during repairs of this important building, it is not hard to imagine what kind of violations will be revealed in other facilities. You must start the work immediately and urgently file these materials to law enforcement agencies».
