Karen Grigoryan, the re-elected mayor of Armenia's Etchmiadzin city, says people in his city are only afraid of God.

Regarding the September 9 mayoral elections in Etchmiadzin, Mr. Grigoryan said there was no atmosphere of fear in the city; there were only two mayoral candidates - Armine Hovhannisyan and the incumbent mayor.

"Maybe you had better view the issue from a different angle. I would advise you to study the work I have done during the past four years," Karen Grigoryan said adding that during his tenure of office he had introduced numerous changes in the city. Over 100 cultural events were held in Etchmiadzin in a year, he stressed.

The Board of Directors of the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC) will convene a conference in Etchmiadzin on October 7-9. During today's press conference, it was noted that the Armenian spiritual center [Etchmiadzin] has serious expectations from the conference.
