Tevan Poghosyan, Executive Director of the International Center for Human Development, will likely become MP under the party list of the opposition Heritage Party.
Earlier, the party's governing board considered the decision of Heritage Chairman Raffi Hovannisian to lay down his mandate and decided to honor Hovannisian's decision ahead of the 2013 presidential elections.
Hovik Abrahamyan, Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly, today read Hovannisian's petition, adding that if Hovannisian does not withdraw his resignation request within 15 days, it will officially be accepted.
Talking to A1+, Hovsep Khurshudyan, Spokesman for the Heritage Party, said that Tevan Poghosyan, who is the next candidate on the party ticket, will likely replace Hovannisian in the National Assembly.
We were unable to contact Tevan Poghosyan since he is not in Armenia at present.
