Robert Kocharyan made a statement regarding the extradition and pardon of Ramil Safarov.
"The actions of Azerbaijani authorities did not come as a surprise. This is a manifestation of ill-considered Armenophoby cherished in that country for a long time. It is enough to remember Sumgait, the Armenian massacres in Baku and the "Park Of Shahids" in memory of those who committed the massacres.
At the time the confidence in this had formed the Armenian side's unchangeable position on the Karabakh conflict settlement process: the impossibility of the NKR's making part of Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijanis are filled with such hatred towards the Armenians that they have forgotten all the limits of morality. Granting a pardon to a murderer is the best proof of the Karabakh people's all arguments to have Independence.
By the way, if it becomes clear from the response of the Hungarian side that Azerbaijan indeed deceived official Budapest and there was no criminal agreement, then the most appropriate response of the Hungarians will be the recognition of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic."
