First Armenian President Levon Ter-Petrosyan took a case to the European Court of Human Rights based on violation of the right to free elections. According to Vahe Grigoryan, the first President's representative in the European Court of Human Rights, the matter concerns violation of the right to free elections during the presidential election in February 2008, as well as violation of other rights.
V. Grigoryan added: "The court sent the president's application to the government, in connection with the right to individual freedom and the right to free movement: on the morning of March 1 the president was detained and moved to his apartment.
