Samvel Alexanyan, an MP elected by the majoritarian ticket of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), today referred to the recent brutal incident at the Harsnakar Restaurant.
Talking to journalists in Yerevan, Mr. Alexanyan said the owner of Harsnakar, HHK MP Ruben Hayrapetyan cannot be blamed for the brawl at the restaurant which left at least one person in extremely critical condition.
"Where should Mr. Hayrapetyan know what might happen in his restaurant?" said Samvel Alexanyan, a close friend of Ruben Hayrapetyan. The latter transferred 50 000 AMD to Alexanyan's bank account for him to participate in the May 6 parliamentary elections.
Asked how he would behave if a similar incident took place at his Parvana Restaurant, Mr. Alexanyan said they had witnessed such incidents during the opening of the restaurant.
"We were quick enough to respond to them. I had numerous headaches in the past. Everything happens in this life," he said adding that if anyway a similar incident was reported in his restaurant he would behave like Mr. Hayrapetyan and punish those guilty.
When asked whether the incident was targeted at Hayrapetyan, Samvel Alexanyan said, "Perhaps they wanted to pay lip-service or tarnish Hayrapetyan's good name."
Samvel Alexanyan promised to visit the hospital to see the military doctors injured during the brawl.
"Similar incidents make us sober up," he concluded.
