These elections were a step forward, President of the Central Election Comission (CEC) Tigran Mukuchyan said when assessing the result of the local-self government elections in nine marzes (province) in Armenia.

"The elections were in full compliance with the letter and spirit of the Electoral Code," the CEC President told a news conference on Feb 13.

According to the CEC official, violations were recorded only in the city of Hrazdan but ‘they were not grave from the legal point of view.' In one case, a citizen tried to vote by the passport of his co-citizen, in another case, the voter was drunk or did not want to leave the polls.

Tigran Mukuchyan also denied allegations of vote buying.
Regarding the footage in which an elderly woman is demanding the ‘promised' 5000 drams to vote for incumbent Republican Mayor Aram Danielyan, the CEC President said ‘an investigation into the case is under way.'

The results of elections will be publicized within five days.
