The arrest of "Haykakan Zhamanak" Daily's issuing correspondent Hayk Gevorgyan should serve as an occasion for the journalistic community to unite," President of the Committee in Defense of Freedom of Speech Ashot Melikyan told "A1+".
According to him, the arrest is a threat and means that any journalist in Armenia can be in the same situation.
Knowing Hayk Gevorgyan, Ashot Melikyan says Gevorgyan wouldn't leave a person in a helpless state and flee, especially if he ran over the person, according to the version that the RA Police claims.
"This was more of a provocation," said Mr. Melikyan, who is following up on the developments that allow him to assume that the victim is a police agent.
