"The U.S. believes the time has come to make the transition to the development of a draft peace deal," announced U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Philip Gordon during hearings in the U.S. Senate Foreign Affairs Committee.

Gordon mentioned that the U.S., France and Russia will expand their efforts and will assist Armenia and Azerbaijan in finding a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of the Minsk Group.

"We deeply believe that the time has come to integrate, affirm the basic principles and move toward the development of a draft peace deal," said Gordon.

In regard to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution, Gordon attached importance to the cooperation between the U.S. and Europe.

"We are certain that the U.S. and Europe must work together to avoid future conflicts in Europe and must assist countries of the region in proceeding with the path toward democracy, peace and prosperity."

The U.S. Assistant Secretary of State also stressed that the U.S. would support Turkey and Armenia to normalize relations.
