Khosrov Harutiunian, Leader of the Armenian Christian-Democratic Union, thinks Nikol Pashinyan should shoulder responsibility for the deadly clashes of March 1-2, 2008 though he doesn't follow Pashinyan's trial.
"I urge that Nikol be brought to responsibility among the other perpetrators of the clashes. The court will bring in a verdict in due time," Khosrov Harutiunian told A1+.
Asked what grounds he had to ascribe such a grave crime to Pashinyan, Mr. Harutiunian replied: "Pashinyan was both arming the mob and calling for mass disorders on March 1, 2008."
Note that no evidence was presented during the trial proving that Pashinyan had really called for mass disorders of armed the crowds.
During today's press conference Khosrov Harutiunian assessed the government's steps directed at crisis management as highly. "Thanks to the government we were able to avoid social tremors and the grave consequences of the global economic crisis," said Harutiunian.
In view of the Armenian-Turkish rapprochement he said: "Regardless of the statements of Turkish officials, the ratification of the Armenian-Turkish Protocols derives from Turkey's interests.
Turkey's authorities are eager to sign the documents. Their announcements simply aim to extort more things from the international community. I don't doubt that the Turkish parliament will ratify the Protocols by April 23, 2010. The Protocols carry no preconditions; rather, they suggest a window for the normalization of relations between the two countries. If the sides fail to ratify the documents they will slap in the face of the international community. Therefore, each of us should realize the burden he is shouldering with his refusal of the protocols."
Khosrov Harutiunian thinks the Armenian parliament should ratify the Protocols irrespective of the fact Turkey does it or not.
"The NKR conflict will not be regulated unless the superpowers want it resolved. I think the Karbakh conflict won't be resolved in the near future," added Khosrov Harutiunian.
