MFA official arrested on bribery charges

The National Security Service of Armenia has arrested an official of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs on bribery charges.

Hakob Haji-Hakobyan, Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry, was arrested on Sept. 9 for ‘demanding extra amounts [through mediators] from citizens living abroad, besides the state due set by law. Haji-Hakobyan violated the order of receiving a certificate of return to the Republic of Armenia.

Investigation is underway.
