Austrian President to visit Yerevan

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, who is on an official visit to Austria, has met with Austrian President Heinz Fischer.

"Austria is interested in further development of friendly relations with Armenia," Fischer said during the meeting.

Thanking the Austrian President for the warm reception, Minister Nalbandian conveyed him the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan's invitation to visit Yerevan. For his part, Heinz Fischer sent his greetings to his Armenian counterpart.

Edward Nalbandian also met with Michael Spindeleger, Austrian Minister for European and International Affairs. The two men highlighted the importance of bilateral meetings aimed at deepening relations between Austria and Armenia.

At the request to the Austrian Minister, Edward Nalbandian presented the recent developments in the Karabakh peace process. Michael Spindeleger reconfirmed Austria's support for the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.

On the same day, Armenian FM met with Austrian Parliament Speaker Fritz Neugebauer to discuss inter-parliamentary collaboration.

On Wednesday morning, Nalbandian laid flowers to the grave of renowned Austrian writer Franz Werfel, the author of the novel The Forty Days of Musa Dagh.
