Serzh Sargsyan has issued a congratulatory message to the director of the Mesrop Masthtots expedition, Zori Balayan, and to the ‘Armenia' sailboat crew and its captain Samvel Karapetyan.
"It's already seven months you've been sailing the seas and oceans. During that time, for the first time in our nation's history, an Armenian sailboat crossed the Atlantic Ocean. Passing through the Panama Canal, you reached the Pacific Ocean and paid a visit to our compatriots in Los Angeles. You visited Armenian communities in Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina, where you concluded the first stage of your trip.
"It's symbolic that the trip is being carried out under the name Mesrop Mashtots with the noble mission of uniting our compatriots around our nation's spiritual and cultural heritage.
On this unprecedented sailing tour, I wish you successful continuation and a safe return," reads the message.
