The State Commission for Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) today fined drug importer and retailer "Natali Pharm" in the amount of 50 million AMD for abusing its dominant position.
The study was launched after Heritage Party ex-MPs Anahit Bakhshyan and Stepan Safaryan filed a complaint with the SCPEC, stating that Natali Pharm, the largest drug importer in Armenia owned by MP Samvel Alexanyan, was creating obstacles for other companies and preventing them from entering the medicine market.
The results of the checkups conducted in 134 medical institutions revealed that some of them had held formal competitions. The SCPEC also found the activity of 9 entities and 30 medical institutions as anti-competitive. Six other companies with a much smaller share of the medicine market received a stern warning by the committee.
