On June 21, Armenia celebrates the World Music Day at the initiative of the French Embassy to RA and Armenian Ministry of Culture.
Seven regions of Armenia (Vayots Dzor, Aragatsotn, Lori, Gegharkunik, Shirak, Armavir, Kotayk) will be engaged in festivities this year. Concerts with participation of local musicians will take place in 24 towns and villages.
The concerts started at 11 a.m.
At 1:00, a concert will be held in the yard of National Assembly at the initiative of Unison NGO.
Jazz and folk music will be played in Lovers' Park and in cafes and restaurants of Abovyan street in the evening. French groups will give concerts in Artik, Gyumri, Vanadzor, Metsamor, Artashat and Goris.
The holiday originated in France in 1982 at the initiative of the Ministry of Culture. World Music Day has been celebrated on 21 June ever since. The holiday is celebrated in more than 110 countries and 430 cities.
It gives a good chance to professional and amateur musicians to demonstrate their abilities through concerts.
