Today, newly appointed minister of education and science Arayik Harutyunyan visited Shirak State University. After the discussions with Arayik Harutyunyan, rector of Shirak State University Sahak Minasyan resigned from his post of the rector of the university. "There has been a tense situation in the university, it is bad that there is no academic atmosphere, the internal problems are being publicized. However, we have had meetings with all the concerned sides, as a result of which the rector has made a right decision and has resigned. While the new rector's election, Vice-Rector Yervand Serobyan will be resposible for the duties of the rector," said the Minister of Education and Science. According to the minister, a new council will be formed, which will hold the rector's new elections, and then there will be separate meetings with students and other employees. Former rector Sahak Minasyan said in a conversation with the journalists that he would pursue the development of a new culture and a student-centered environment, and did not want to talk about the future.
