Eduard Sharmazanov: People want to see things in the budget that are not included (video)
Today, in the National Assembly, NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov delivered an extraordinary speech at the discussion of 2018 state budget draft. He announced that the odd thing he had found was that people wanted to see things in the budget which were included in it. "We have never said that we can get rid of poverty very quickly, we have never said that salaries and pensions will be increased. Economic growth in Azerbaijan is -0.9-1%, I have not created the number, it is a well-known fact, in the Russian Federation - -1.8%, Belarus - - 0.7%, Kazakhstan - 3.3% and we have about 4.5-5% growth in the basis of the next year's budget. This is a stabilization budget, which is to ensure lasting growth. In this budget, defense and security spending are increased by 28 and 32 billion drams, respectively. I am for increasing salaries, pensions but not at the expense of security. We should not give fish to people, but teach them how to catch fish. I do not think that the opposition will vote for, but I expect the political coalition to vote for."
