Serzhe Sargsyan's forecast is difficult to reach (video)
Executive Director of the Armenian service of United Nations (UN) Population Fund Garik Hayrapetyan believes that it is not possible that 4 million people will live in Armenia in 2040. To recap, at the opening of the 6th Armenia-Diaspora Pan-Armenian Forum, Serzh Sargsyan addressed the demographic issues in his speech and noted that Armenia will have 4 million residents in 2040. "If we leave everything as it is, then in 2035 the population of Armenia will be 2.5 or 2.6 million. If we try to take steps to raise the birth rate, to settle immigration issues, then our predictions in the year 2035 show 3.2 million people, which is also hard to achieve, "says Garik Hayrapetyan.
