Dashnaktsutyun wants Shahumyan as well (video)
Armenia is ready to sit at the table of negotiations also after the killing of Azerbaijan’s two years’ old child. According to the Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, negotiations have no alternative. The NA Dashnaktsutyun faction Head Armen Rustamyan adds, “We must always be ready for new war, as Azerbaijan does everything so that the issue be solved through war.” While touching upon the death of Azerbaijan’s two years’ old child as a result of fire by the Armenian armed forces, Mr Rustamyan says that Azerbaijan thinks that only it has a right to shell the Armenian positions, “They think that as [their positions] are deployed in settlements, Armenian shouldn’t silence their fire, and when the fire is silenced, consequently there are casualties also among the residents.” With the death of the child, according to Mr Rustamyan, Azerbaijan is trying to move the feelings of the international community and present Armenia as a vandal. Casualties are inevitable during ceasefire violation, reminds Dashnak lawmaker, “We have also had casualties- children, elderly people.” Azerbaijan cannot get 7 regions, which are under the control of Nagorno Karabakh, through peaceful negotiations, assures Armen Rustamyan. First, it must recognize the independence of Karabakh, “The international community has understood that it is a fair demand by Armenia, Karabakh, and they make Azerbaijan understand it. So, ‘territories for status’ principle, which started operating, is failed by Azerbaijan.” Armen Rustamyan is for return of the territories under Karabakh’s control only after clarifying the status. He says that the people of Artsakh also support it. And by saying Karabakh’s independence, the lawmaker understands the autonomous region of Nagorno Karabakh together with Shahumyan region.
