“This is not even an imitation of a trial,” Vice-Chairman of the Heritage Party Armen Martirosyan said when speaking about the trial of eighteen members of the Sasna Dzrer armed group that seized a Yerevan police building in July 2016. He is following the trial and says the entire process, violence against defendants, examination of lawyers’ bags, Attitudes towards citizens prompt that the court will not announce a verdict in favour of the Republic of Armenia. “The verdict will please the authorities of Armenia, specifically Serzh Sargsyan, who directs the judiciary. Armen Martirosyan says some of the members of the Sasna Dzrer group were to be at large by now. “After the seizure of the police station the Office of Prosecutor General and the National Security Service announced that if the gunmen laid down their arms, they would show a mild attitude towards them. But as we saw after laying down their weapons, they appeared behind the bars. This means we cannot anticipate a special attitude in the given situation because this is the Armenia where we live.” Mr. Marirosyan says radical steps are needed to change the situation and says the best option is a universal upheaval. “Armenia no longer makes a decision, it implements decisions. It has turned from a subject of international law into an object,” he said. The member of the Heritage party adds that the regime has sold everything to extend its stay in power - enterprises, mines, energy resources, and, is now going to a more dangerous step. “By putting liberated Artsakh at stake, the regime is weakening our positions.”
