Putin forwards agreement with Armenia for ratification

Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent to the Russian State Duma a Russian-Armenian agreement on Joint Group of Forces for ratification, TASS reports citing the Duma electronic database. The agreement was signed in Moscow on November 30, 2016 for a five-year period. Under the agreement, a joint group of forces will be created in the Caucasus region to ensure the security of each of the parties and to give an adequate response to armed aggression. After their talks in Moscow on March 15, Putin and Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan highly assessed the move and highlighted the importance of cooperation in maintaining regional security.
