Political analyst: Co-Chair countries are guided by their interests

The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries are well aware of their interests and are guided by them. Any statement they make stems from the interests of these countries,” former Armenian lawmaker Tevan Poghosyan said on Tuesday when commenting on the recent statement of the international mediators. In the statement published on June 19, the Co-Chairs expressed deep concern over the recent violations of the ceasefire, resulting in casualties on the Line of Contact, on the eve of their visit to Azerbaijan and appealed to the leadership of Azerbaijan to avoid further escalation. The Co-Chairs sent the same message to the leadership of Armenia and de facto authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh. “In their previous statement the Co-Chairs said that Azerbaijan was the first to shoot but Armenia responded in kind,” Mr Poghosyan continued. He added that when the OSCE Minsk Group issued the statement on Monday the Armenian side was again responding to fresh ceasefire violation by Azerbaijan although there is not video about it.
