Seyran Ohanyan, former Minister of Defense, member of “Ohanyan-Raffi-Oskanian” alliance, today after the campaign in Avan administrative district during the briefing with journalists touched upon corruption cases registered during his tenure, “In the armed forces there is social and civil-democratic control. During the recent 5 years there wasn’t any other Minister of Defense during whose tenure those control bodies carry out so much work. Of course, in many cases they assisted the leadership of the army, revealed many cases and made relevant decisions on revealed cases, instituted criminal cases. There are also personal control bodies of the Minister of Defense. During the tenure of any other Minister of Defense, respecting all of them, there weren’t so many revelations in those structures as during my tenure. I made relevant decisions based on those revelations. They weren’t public based on the peculiarities of Ministry of Defense. I carried out relevant activities for the revelation of corruption risks, personnel policy, social problems, flat compensations as well as money compensations for improving housing conditions of deceased or injured servicemen. During my term in office we can say that there was revolution in terms of draft, as previous corruption risks reached minimum.”
