“EEU customs code is suicide for Armenia” (video)
“The existence of Armenia-EU new framework agreement means that the European Union didn’t refuse Armenia,” says Ashot Yeghiazaryan, candidate for lawmaker from Free Democrats Party. He thinks that new document is very close to the contents of the association agreement. Yeghiazaryan noted that in summer within the frames of the EEU adoption of the customs code is planned and if Armenia signs it, it will be suicide, “It also implies contradictions with the International Trade Organization, and the signing of the framework agreement with the EU will strengthen Armenia’s sovereignty.” According to the words of economist Hovhannes Igityan, Armenia has always wanted to maintain relations with the EU, but the way so that the EEU not be jealous. He says that the provision of creation of deep and comprehensive trade zone has been removed from the framework agreement, which, according to Igityan, should have ensured Armenia’s economic development, “But now we have only reached a partnership agreement with the European Union.”
