Heritage Party Leader Raffi Hovannisian, who is 11th on the list of candidates of Ohanian-Raffi-Oskanyan alliance, is convinced that he will be elected as a member of the National Assembly in the April parliamentary elections, hence he does not mind his place on the joint ticket, Vice-Chairman of the Heritage party, Armen Martirosyan, told journalists on February 21. “He [Raffi Hovannisian] believes in the team he has set up. He thought it was right to place me 2nd on the ticket. I think there is nothing strange here,” Martirosyan said. The Heritage representative says he respects the decision of Zaruhi Postanjyan who announced yesterday her intention to leave the party though he disagrees with some of her observations. “I cannot agree that the party has turned its back on the principles and policies it adhered to in the past because people who created the Heritage party, stay with us,” Martirosyan stressed. Nor does Martirosyan agree with the opinion that the party has been left without ‘heirs’ “The true Heritage members are those who have done their work quietly all those years without any expectations.” Asked whether Postanjyan left the party because she did not want [former defense minister] Seyran Ohanyan to head the list of the alliance, Armen Martirosyan said, “The issue has not been discussed at all. From the very beginning, Zaruhi disapproved of the idea of forming an electoral alliance with other forces. Should she stay with us, she would probably top the list.” The vice-chairman of the Heritage party admits that Seyran Ohanyan made mistakes, but ‘there are no infallible people.’ “We should consider all pluses and minuses. In his case, we can see more pluses. A reformer should have management skills, Ohanyan has got them them.’
