Artur Sargsyan, the man arrested last August for delivering food to members of the Sasna Dzrer group which seized police station in Yerevan, cannot leave his cell at the Hospital for Convicts penitentiary. “He [Artur] cannot get out of bed. Therefore, I am going to visit him,” Sargsyan’s lawyer, Tigran Yegoryan, said to A1+. The lawyer visits his client every day. He says Artur’s health is at risk. Artur Sargsyan, who is nicknamed the “bringer of bread” for taking food to the armed group members, has been on hunger strike since February 10. “We are very anxious about him and have serious concerns in view of providing proper support and assistance to him. We think that the state is not performing its obligations properly,” the lawyer said. The lawyer added that Sargsyan is determined to continue the hunger strike. Artur Sargsyan was released in December, but on February 9 he was again placed under two months’ arrest for not showing up after being summoned to a case hearing slated for on February 3.
