Amendments in the law on parties, which were adopted by the NA at the first reading, aim at establishing this field. The amendments abate the conditions for parties’ establishment and registration. CEC has some concerns connected with the liberalization of the law; if they continue increasing and submitting applications for participating in the elections, there will be difficulties according to new EC rules. “In terms of organization, the volume of the work will be large, but it does not mean that if the number of parties is bigger than it was expected, we will not register them. Of course, increase in the number of parties will bring forward additional work, as it means that additional ballots are needed, it will increase the work of committees. But it cannot be a reason for limiting their rights,” notes the CEC Chairman Tigran Mukuchyan. At the moment the CEC is engaged in the activities of realizing new EC regulations and for that reason meetings with parliamentary and extra-parliamentary forces are intended.
