Ararat Khandoyan: I shall take revenge on all of you for my mother’s tears (video)
Ararat Khandoyan, the brother of Sasna Dzrer group member Ararat Khandoyan, was greeted with cheers and applause, in the courtroomon Tuesday. The Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan’s Kentron and Nork-Marash districts today continued the hearing of the case of Ararat Khandoyan and Arman Arakelyan, who are accused of participating in mass disorders and using violence against a police officer during clashes between the riot police and supporters of Sasna Dzrer group that seized a police building in Yerevan in July 2016. Ararat Khandoyan first greeting everyone in the courtroom and then, seeing his mother, banged his fist on the table. “I shall take revenge on all of you for my mother’s tears,” he said addressing the prosecutor and others. Then turning to his mother, Ararat Khandoyan asked her to calm down. “If you do not want to be a slave, you should fight for your rights. People have chosen to become slaves, they serve the oligarchic regime, but we serve our motherland,” he said. Lawyer Ara Gharagyozyan filed a motion to lift the ban placed on relatives’ visits. Though Prosecutor Hayk Petrosyan had no objections, Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan turned it down. Ara Gharagyozyan filed a second motion, requesting the court to release Ararat Khandoyan on bail. The Judge has retired to the consulting room to make a decision.
