Sasna Tsrer member needs urgent operation: Lawyer noticed brownish discoloration in his leg
Three months have passed since the detention of Hovhannes Harutyunyan, one of the members of the Sasna Dzrer group that seized a police station in Yerevan in July, but he has not been operated on, Harutyunya’n’s lawyer said today. Harutyunyan, who got a gunshot wound to his right leg in the seized police station, is currently in the prison hospital. “As Harutyunyan’s lawyer, I am concerned about his health. During our meeting, I noticed dark discoloration in his wounded leg,” the lawyer said to A1+. She says Hovhannes Harutyunyan was discharged from the Erebuni medical centre on September 12. Doctors told him that he had to wait another month to undergo surgery. The month has passed but Hovhannes has not been operated on yet. Lawyer Hayarpi Sargsyan demands that the Ministers of Health and Justice, Penitentiary Department of the Justice Ministry and Ombudsman’s Office take appropriate steps to provide adequate medical assistance to her client. “Otherwise, the entire responsibility for Harutyunyan’s health will lie upon these the heads of these agencies,” she said.
