During the parliamentary debates on the amendments to the Code of the Republic of Armenia on Administrative Offences, Minister of Justice Arpine Hovhannisyan said disciplinary, administrative and criminal punishments are prescribed for those high-ranking officials who commit offences. “If an official or his representative has not submitted a declaration to the Ethics Committee, warning shall be issued. After the warning, this person shall be subjected to administrative penalty in the amount of 200 times of the established minimum wage if he fails to submit the declaration within 30 days.  This is applied in case of a specific offence. Why are more severe punishments foreseen for the second case?  “The Criminal Code says that if the violation is not remedied or resolved within the specified period of time after imposing administrative penalty, then the person shall be subject to criminal liability,” she said.
