Leader of the parliamentary faction of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation – Dashnaktsutyun, Armen Rustamyan, has not heard about Serzh Sargsyan’s plans to change the cabinet led by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan. “I do not think that it might happen without discussing the issue with us [Dashnaks] because the change of the prime minister implies a change in the composition of the government. It is one of the most important issues coalition partners should be informed about in advance,” Mr. Rustamyan said. The ARF-Dashnaktsutyun member is aware that Karen Karapetyan has already resigned as Deputy Director General for Strategic Development of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Company because of his possible appointment as Armenia’s Prime Minister. Mr. Rustamyan says the change of persons does not promise a lot. “The rules of the game should be reconsidered and the head of the country must comply with these rules and try to solve the problems faced by our people,” he said. When asked whether it is correct to change the government eight months before the 2017 elections, the Dashnak lawmaker said, “Indeed, there is dissatisfaction among people and they have a justifiable grievance, they expect definite steps and actions. Many simply are so impatient that they cannot wait until next spring.” Mr. Arustamyan says his party does not see any problems in working with the Armenian national Congress (HAK) in the same government. “If the HAK changes its opinion and agrees that our country can have a better future with the current parliamentary system, we see no problems here,” he said.
