Ombudsman’s Office: Everyone arrested shall be informed of the reasons for his arrest
Armenian Ombudsman’s Office considers unacceptable the detention of citizens without proper explanation and/or grounds. At the same time the Office reminds that under the country’s Constitution everyone who is arrested shall be informed promptly, in a language which he understands, of the reasons for his arrest and of any charge against him. This provision of the Constitution is directly applicable and legally enforceable. The staffers of the Ombudsman’s Office verify all reports it receives and media publications. The Ombudsman’s Office continues to work around the clock, using all its resources.
