“Without joint cultural programs and mutual visits there can be no sincere friendship between the peoples,” says Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to Armenia Georgi Karastamatov. Within the frames of Armenian-Bulgarian cultural cooperation, the performance of Angel Manolov Academic Choir and Chemerika folk group was held at “Matenadaran” concert hall of Etchmiadzin and the museum-institute of Komitas headed by Laureate of international contests Darena Popova. The Academic Choir, which was named after the founder, has more than 80 years’ history. “Chemerika” is also a choir having long history. Though, according to Darena Popova, they always take part in the festivals and competitions, as they are wonderful opportunities to get acquainted with the choir art of other countries and present their heritage. “I have had Armenian friends, but alas I know only Aram Khachatrian among the Armenian composers. We also perform spiritual songs and I regret to say that I have learnt about Komitas only today. By the way, there is an Armenian in our choir,” said Mrs Darena. Watch more in the video!
