The Armenians in Georgia aren’t cut off from the homeland, and the community of Tbilisi feels itself as at home, thinks one of three lawmakers of the Georgia’s National Assembly Ruslan Poghosyan, “I think that the Armenians in Canada and Australia are more cut off from Armenia, than we as the border is close to us.” He doesn’t share the concern that there is issue of preservation of Armenian identity in Georgia, “There are state schools, theatre, newspaper, news in Armenian on the state TV channel. The problem is in the integration; in order to work at state companies they must know Georgian. At the end of 2015 after restoration St. Gevorg Church built in the 13th century started operating in Tbilisi. This note can be read in the church’s yard- the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox St. Church. According to the locals, if the word ‘orthodox’ wasn’t included in the note, the Georgian authorities wouldn’t have approved the restoration project. Watch the video for more details!
