Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk informed of tense situation in Karabakh

Nagorno-Karabakh’s Defense Ministry reports that on April 26 and on the night of April 27, Azerbaijan continued to intensively shell not only Armenian positions but also civilian settlements, using almost all types of artillery, including 85-, 100-, 122- and 152-mm cannons, MM-21 (Grad) missiles and 9M33 M3 anti-aircraft autocannons. Defense Ministry’s frontline units are taking retaliatory actions to suppress the enemy’s activeness inflicting human and other losses on the rival. The NKR Defense Ministry says representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk, is periodically informed of the tense situation on the Line of Contact between the Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces. Deputy Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan met with the Ambassador on Tuesday evening. Tonoyan briefed Mr Kasprzyk on the situation on the frontline and Azerbaijan’s provocative actions. The parties stressed OSCE’s role in easing the tension in the conflict zone, as well as the necessity to urgently install monitoring and incident investigation mechanisms.
