Late on Friday, members of the “We are the masters of our country” initiative tried to stage a march towards the presidential palace, but stopped after encountering a heavy police cordon at the beginning of the avenue. Police officers had closed the main route to the avenue disallowing the group from continuing the march. They urged the activists to return to their homes. However, several activists disobeyed the order and tried to break through the police cordon. As a result, some of them were detained and taken to police stations in vehicles. Among those detained were also cameramen of 1in.am. Their cameras used for providing the live streaming of the unfolding drama were damaged in the standoff. Police detained 42 people from Baghramyan Avenue, the Department of Public Relations and Information of the Police told Arrmenpress.am. These individuals were subjected to administrative detention under Articles 180 of the Code of Administrative Offences of Armenia.
