We are the masters of our country: Activists start march to Presidential Palace (video)
Members of the “We are the masters of our country” initiative gathered at Liberty Square on Friday evening for a march to the Presidential Palace at 26 Baghramyan Avenue. The group is going to hand over a letter with their demands to the Armenian president. In particular, they demand that the state allocate money to the families of Armenian servicemen wounded during the four-day hostilities in Karabakh and take money from oligarchs and senior Armenian officials. Colonel Valery Osipyan, deputy chief of Yerevan's police, said since the march was not sanctioned police officers can escort a group of 25-30 people to Baghramyan Avenue. However, all activists want to go and see the president. Osipyan has given the protesters 5 minutes to open the street and return to the square. Seeing that the group is resolute, they used force against the organizers and detained about 10 people. Others were dragged away by the police to the pavements.
