The Institute for War & Peace Reporting (IWPR), in cooperation with the Public Journalism Club (PJC) and the Media Center, is hosting a press conference with Ambassador Piotr Switalski, Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia on 9 February, at 11:00. The press conference is an opportunity for journalists to engage with the EU representative and will feature the new round of Armenia-EU talks and related issues and prospects. Simultaneous English-Armenian translation will be provided. On 7 December, 2015, the EU and Armenia launched negotiations on a new overarching framework for deepening their bilateral relations. The negotiations followed the uncertain period created in 2013 when the negotiated EU-Armenia Association Agreement could not be completed following Armenia's decision to join the Eurasian Economic Union. Presently, the two sides are developing a comprehensive framework agreement covering political and economic cooperation and taking into account Armenia's more recent commitments. On February 15, 2016, Armenia and EU will launch talks on the Trade and Investments Chapter.  IWPR and PJC initiated the meeting to give journalists and civil society representatives an opportunity to ask a wide range of questions on Armenia-EU relations and their agenda, as well as on other current issues. This event is part of IWPR’s Strengthening Capacities, Bridging Divides — Reducing Tensions across the South Caucasus project, supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
