“There is no epidemic”, announced Minister of Health Armen Muradyan after the Government session by touching upon the spread of flu and acute respiratory infections, “Decision has been made that polyclinics will work on Saturday and Sunday in order to ease overcrowding in hospitals, as there are certain concerns about overcrowding in hospitals. Epidemic is an index subjected to rather complicated calculation and calculated by formulas. In particular infection threshold has been surpassed by 1-1.5 times. There will be epidemic, when the threshold is surpassed by 4-5 times.” As for Tamiflu medication, which can hardly be found in pharmacies during these days, the Minister assured that soon it will be. He noted that in 2009 the medication had been imported to Armenia and had cost not less than AMD 9000, “Soon Tamiflu will be sold in pharmacies for AMD 11 500, but it isn’t a fixed price, as the market dictates the price.” According to the information provided by Armen Muradyan, today in the morning 945 people with acute respiratory infections have applied to the medical institutions, 420 of them have been infected with pneumonia. Most of the people infected with pneumonia have been children.
