Protester urges march participants not to succumb to provocations (video)

19.30 The march held by the New Armenia opposition group ended at Liberty Square. 19.10 The protesters were met by a heavy police cordon a Liberty Square. The group announced that they intended to march to Northern Avenue and then return to the square. The marchers left the square, chanting, “Shame!" 19.00 Protesters tried to enter Melik Adamyan street but Deputy Chief of the Yerevan City, Valery Osipyan prevented them from realizing their plan. "The government building is situated on that street,' he said. “You are protecting the den of the party therefore you disallow us to go there,” said Varuzhan Avetisyan. Gevorg Safaryan added in his turn that they would not go anywhere as the police were illegally blocking their way. "Please, do not succumb to provocations, we already have information that the police are going to provoke provocations," he said. 18.30  New Armenia started a march through Yerevan streets. 17. 50 During the rally held by the New Armenia Public Salvation Front in Yerevan’s Liberty Square, Raffi Hovannisian addressed Aghvan Hovsepyan, Movses Hakobyan, Gevorg Kostanyan and Vladimir Gasparyan. “Exercising their constitutional right, Armenian people demands to arrest, prosecute and punish all chairpersons of polling stations, their deputies, regional governors and mayors who, upon the instruction of Serzh Sargsyan and Hovik Abrahamyan, were involved in an organized crime, in unprecedented high treason, before the December 6 vote, on the day of the referendum and after it,” Mr Hovannisian said in his speech adding that otherwise they will be accused of inactivity and/or complicity. “You are servants of the people,” Mr Hovannisian stressed. Before the start of the rally, Raffi Hovannisian suggested that the ralliers observe a moment of silence for the Armenian soldiers killed by Azerbaijani troops.
