“Our society should not be prepared; we should always be at war,” Vova Vartanov, the founder of the first sabotage-intelligence squad, told media today. “We have been at war since 1998. Though tensions have weakened, it does not mean that the war is over. Those who participated in the war are wrong to say that we have won the war. Yes, we have beaten the enemy a couple of times, but it does not mean we have taken a victory over Azerbaijan. The victory is only possible to celebrate in Baku,” he said. “We shot Turks but Turkey’s leadership does not care for it. Propaganda struggle is much more important for them as the clan of Aliyevs and Pashayevs will not cede power which is advantageous to us. In short, it is a good family and it would be better if they stay in power until we reach Baku,” he added. Speaking about the recent border skirmishes and  the increasing tensions at the Line of Contact, Mr Vartanov said, “It was not the first time Azerbaijan had used a tank. We always forget the hostilities were discontinued in 1994 but Azerbaijan again escalated situation in 1997-1998 firing from tanks and grenades.” In reply to a journalist’s question why border tensions grow especially in winter months, Mr Vartanov said, “The reason is that we, Armenians, think that Turks do not fight in winter months but Turks always attack in winter because they know our opinion about them. “Turks do not fight badly. They are good warriors but we have always smashed them and will do it again and again. They have good soldiers. Avars and Lezgins, who are courageous people, also fight for Turks. It is wrong to underestimate Turks."
