During a meeting with the representatives of football and sports media, President of the Football Federation of Armenia Ruben Hayrapetyan said the Armenian national team would be headed only by an Armenian specialist. He said at present there are 15 candidates for the post: 13 of them are PRO class trainers. Some of them work for foreign clubs. Since the resignation of Vardan Minasyan in 2013, the team has had two coaches, both of whom have been criticized by fans for not doing enough for the team to perform well. Swiss specialist Bernard Challandes was appointed Head Coach of the Armenian national team before the Euro-2016 qualifier. He was fired after Armenia lost to Albania in March 2015. Sagis Hovsepyan, who was appointed head coach of the youth team, replaced Challandes for a short time but he did not head the team in any game. A month ago the so-called First Armenian Front (FAF) put its demands to the FFA – to invite a highly qualified coach, reconsider the practice of not inviting players to the team because of conflicts and lower the prices of tickets to the home games of the national team.
