The Pan-Armenian National Movement (HHSh) supports the constitutional changes. Talking to reporters on November 20, Ararat Zurabyan said they have no intention to oppose the changes only because they were initiated by the authorities. With regard to public concerns that the government wants to ensure their reproduction by amending the Constitution, Mr Zurabyan said, “Is there anyone who doubts the reproduction of the ruling party? Even if the system remains the same, the Republicans will do everything possible to form a majority again. The question is whether Serzh Sargsyan will stay in power or not. I am sure that Serzh Sargsyan will step down because he has said many times that he will not stay in power. I do not think that a person can announce in front of his nation that he is going to resign and then go back on his words.” Speaking about former President Robert Kocharyan’s statement about the constitutional changes proposed by the Sargsyan administration, Ararat Zurabyan said, “Life has shown that Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan have passed a serious path and transferred the power to the other in an amicable way, and I think Robert Kocharyan could simply telephone Serzh Sargsyan and say he would like to express his concerns about the constitutional changes and participate in political debates.”
