Several young men, who have created pulpulak.club, have a solution to the issue where the drinking fountains are located and how much time it will take to quench your thirst. Hrachik Ajamyan living in California and Levon Tigranyan living in Moscow had the idea about a month ago, “We came to participate in Pan-Armenian Games. One day we were walking and ate ice-cream, then we wanted to wash and drink water. We went on and on but didn’t find any drinking fountain. We know that there are many, but we didn’t know the places. Then Levon said, ‘I wish there was an app or a website in order to search the location of drinking fountains.’ We searched the internet but couldn’t find anything like that and we decided to create something by ourselves. Then we forgot about it. A month later Hrachik said that there would be Hackathon event. The participants gather and create programs on the spot. On entering the building Levon reminded about the idea of drinking fountains. And we understood from the reaction of the people that it could be done,” say the authors of the idea. They created pulpulak.club website at Hackathon and it became the winner. The location and the time you need to reach the nearest drinking fountains are mentioned on the website. You don’t have to buy water from the shops any more. In general this website is intended for the tourists, “Armenians know the surroundings, but tourists have difficulty in finding the direction,” says Hrachik Ajamyan and adds that he also met with Yerevan Mayor and introduced the website, “I learnt from the Mayor that there are 3000 drinking fountains, but they also don’t know the places and how many of them work.” The website is in English. They are going to create an app too. When speaking about the IT sector and how much the support of the state is necessary for the development of the sector, the boys say, “One thing is needed from the state so that it won’t hinder. If they finance, the sector will develop more quickly, but it is possible also without it.” Reminding that 2019 IT World Congress could be held in Armenia, but until today the state hasn’t provided the necessary USD 100.000 as a result of which we can miss the opportunity, Hrachik Ajamyan said, “If something like that fell into their hands and they aren’t doing anything it means hindering. Do you know what the problem of IT is? The people, who have seen lahmajo, steak, they understand the things like those. But what will they do with this? They press the keyboard and nothing happens. It isn’t clear. Even when they use Facebook, they don’t understand for what. Everything is becoming technology. There will be few workers in hundred years. There will be no waiters, there will be robots.” Levon Tigranyan adds, “Those, who are involved in IT sector, see the potential of IT, but it isn’t clear for those, who aren’t involved. If you suggest developing the tourism, they will say ‘yes’, we must develop tourism, but if you suggest developing IT, they will say, ‘For what? What will it give us?’ They don’t realize what we can achieve by developing that sector. By the way, only using human resources, we can develop Armenia.” Economist Levon Tigranyan, who has his job in Moscow, is going to return to Armenia in a year. Hrachik Ajamyan also hopes that he will return. marine
