Memories of Old Yerevan on the canvases of Sergey Maltsev (video)
120 canvases telling about smile of girls, blue of Armenia’s sky and firm stones, beauty, happiness and Old Yerevan have been gathered under one roof. The personal exhibition of Sergey Maltsev has been open at the Artists’ Union. All the canvases are familiar, says the artist, but the canvases of Old Yerevan have their special role. Most of the scenes don’t exist in reality anymore, “Alas, it has been distorted a little, time dictates its demands, we must obey but never forget that there was Old Yerevan.” Maltsev doesn’t exclude that one day the pictures of new Yerevan will be presented at his exhibition, but there is a precondition for it, “I will paint when it corresponds to my spiritual values with its spiritual values, now it is very new Yerevan, which is outside my understanding.” Sergey Maltsev stood out with his talent still during student years, he was a ready artist, recalls his teacher Armen Atayan, “You see the result of your work, you feel happy when you see that your students become great artists, I expect even better works from Sergey in the future.” The exhibition will be open for 10 days.
