“There is still no danger of starting large-scale military operations” (video)
The situation was tense during the whole night at the border zone of Tavush marz. “The adversary was shooting from weapons of different caliber, large-caliber machine guns, snipers, as well as mortars,” noted DM press secretary Artsrun Hovhannisyan in the interview with journalists at the Ministry of Defense. The Armenian side has 2 injured civilians and one victim- contractual soldier Hayk Devoyan born in 1975. “The situation is under control, the activeness of the adversary was quelled. I must also add that not only as a result of yesterday, but during the tension of the recent two days the adversary has also suffered losses, which has been reported in their media,” said Mr. Hovhannisyan. He is giving different reasons for the general tense situation at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. At the same time he assures, that there is still no danger of starting large-scale military operations. In this context he highlights: “In this or that way, as you know, military operations are going on with periodic tensions, but it is early to speak about large-scale operations. In this case, in general, nothing should be excluded, but there are no clear signs of large-scale military operations.” Why isn’t Russia supporting the member of the CSTO treaty and its strategic ally Armenia in this situation? Isn’t it time to turn to Russia’s support? “Armenian Armed Forces keep the situation under control and are able to respond to the adversary’s harassments, as well as this issue has relevant procedure on the political platform and it is decided by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief with the relevant council session etc.” The DM press secretary assures that the evacuation of the residents in Tavush marz is within the framework of “Shant-2015” military exercises. “Relevant large, educational base will be formed in Tavush marz. At present simply I won’t give details, simply the fact that yesterday there was shooting in Tavush is a coincidence. Temporary evacuation places will be prepared also in other parts.” The use of mobile phones is banned during “Shant-2015” military exercises. “We are playing the scenario that there are no mobile phones. It means how we will work if there are no mobile phones and the Internet, so we must have our planned scheme through which we work with each other,” notes the DM press secretary.
