The Public Council today considered the initiative of conducting an audit at the Electric Networks of Armenia, the Russian-owned company that runs Armenia’s power-distribution grid. Passions heated up after a representative of the Public Services Regulatory Commission announced that a decision had been made to fully recoup within a year the losses of the ENA which had been caused by the renovation of Armenia’s Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant and water shortage that affected energy production. Ashot Ashotyan, a member of the Public Council, could not hide his resentment hearing these words. “Call those Russians and tell them that things have worsened not only in Russia but also in Armenia. If they have losses, as they say, let them leave the prices unchanged. Arshak Sadoyan  and I are ready to but at that price. “I cannot afford to buy at that price. Do not give my name,” Mr Sadoyan said from his seat. Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources intervened in the dispute saying, “Let us change our tones a little.” “You are right. I am sorry. I warmed up a little,” said Mr Sadoyan.
