Hunger-strikers deny their party affiliation

Two of the activists participating in the protests against rising electricity prices in Yerevan’s Baghramyan Avenue have been staging a hunger-strike since Tuesday, June 30. Harutyun Harutyunyan and Hayk Parikyan demand that the country’s authorities revoke the public regulator’s decision to raise the electricity prices by 6.93 drams. Talking to A1+, they boys denied allegations about their party affiliation. As soon as the boy announced the strike, rumours spread that Harutyun (left on the picture) is a member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK). “We do not belong to any party. Once a person wants to do something good, they start gossiping about him and labeling him…We do not belong to any party. Once a person wants to do something good, just start talking, labeling ... I have started hunger strike for people to come out of their homes and join our struggle,” Harutyun said.
